Bowenwork® and Emmett Technique

There are many theories about how Bowen and the Emmett Technique work and ongoing research continues in understanding these simple and amazing therapies. They are powerful forms of bodywork that balance & stimulate energy flows resulting in a deep sense of overall relaxation. They are holistic addressing the whole body and not just the area of pain or injury.  Research shows that the Bowen moves release energy, reduce muscle spasms, increase blood supply and lymphatic drainage, and clear toxins from the body

Bowen Therapy is a soft tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. It is a powerful form of bodywork that balances & stimulates energy flows resulting in a deep sense of overall relaxation. It is holistic addressing the whole body and not just the area of pain or injury.

The Therapist will make a series of gentle moves at specific points of the body. Stimulus is received by the nervous system and the appropriate tension is made in the skeletal muscles, their tendons, and joints.

The Emmett Technique is a safe and simple muscle release therapy developed by Remedial Therapist Ross Emmett.

It is used to address pain and discomfort, improve body movement and can restore a positive emotional state.

It can be used alone or used seamlessly with any other bodywork therapy to enhance its performance.  The client can be seated or lying down fully clothed. For this reason, it is one of the most desirable and versatile treatments available, enhancing any therapist's practice.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION

Complementary Health Treatments

First of all, the session is done preferably, with the client in loose clothing; jeans are not recommended. The therapist will ask questions relating to the clients' health and medical history. The first session is usually an hour.  The following sessions can take anywhere between 20-60 minutes depending on the procedures applied.  Often the pain is resolved within  2-3 sessions, but for best results 4-6 sessions are recommended, each 7-10 days apart.  However, I have had clients with pain they've had for 5-10 years, due to a car accident or a fall, completely disappear after only 1 or 2 sessions. Every body is unique and reacts differently depending on the nature of the issue. My role is not to diagnose but to address the area of pain and apply the correct procedures to provide pain relief.

Who should consider these therapies?

  1.  A pain or a condition that has not resolved with other therapies
  2. Someone who wants to try a therapy that is very gentle without needles or  manipulations
  3. Someone that would like to receive a therapy that causes deep relaxation
